Operation HIGHMAST was the UK Carrier Strike Group's deployment in 2025.  

HMS PRINCE OF WALES led an international task group to the Middle East, Australia, Japan, India and the Mediterranean.  During eight months at sea, the Strike Group worked with partners aircraft carriers from Italy, India, Japan and the United States.  

This talk from Lt. Cdr. Andrew Ward RN will focus on the aircraft embarked in the strike group and types the air wing flew with and against on exercises across Europe and Asia.

About the speaker
Andrew Ward joined the Navy in 2012.  He completed his initial training in the aircraft carrier HMS ILLUSTRIOUS, sister ship to HMS ARK ROYAL V discussed by Rear Admiral Snelson in February 2025.  Andrew served as a watchkeeping officer in HMS DRAGON and DUNCAN, including hot weather sea trials for the Wildcat helicopter in 2015.  He went on secondment to RAF Marham as the UK's F-35B Lightning force formed in 2019.  Andrew joined the UK Carrier Strike Group in 2024, embarked in the aircraft carrier HMS PRINCE OF WALES.

The Brooklands Club Members bar is open to use from 5:30pm – please use card payment for drinks. Food can also be ordered from the Bar and will be served from 5:45pm.

All are welcome (RAeS membership is not required). There is an entry donation of £5.00 (please use card payment) at the door. This donation is not expected from those under the age of 21 or holders of a current Student Union card.

Certificates of Attendance for C.Eng or CPD purposes are available on request.

Entry is via Campbell Gate only, Brooklands Road, KT13 0QN from 5.30pm.
