Brooklands Museum supports learning outside the classroom through a range of workshops, tours, activity days and resources that will inspire and engage pupils of all ages.
General Admission price per pupil is £5, carers free

Self-Guided Visit
Museum Explorer
Research our collections whilst using one of our activity resources specially developed to engage students in real life applications of the learning Curriculum. Indoors & outdoors.
Cost: Included in General Admission price (see top of page).

Guided Tours
Journeys: by Air
Discover the history of aviation and the changes in technology and design with our guided tour of the aviation exhibits. Walkthrough the fastest passenger plane ever to be built – the Concorde! Primarily outdoors.
Cost: £1.50 per pupil (in addition to General Admission price, see top of page). 45 children per session.
Duration: 45mins
KS1 curriculum links: Science, History and Design & Technology. Suitable for ages 5–8.
Journeys: On Land
Explore the history and development of land transport including our bicycle, motorbike and car exhibits, and walk on the original Brooklands racetrack. Learn about Formula 1 racing, and discover the changes to motorcar materials over time. Indoors and outdoors.

It’s an Ingenious World
A guided tour visit that will develop your pupils’ knowledge of engineering through case studies of objects within the Museum collection. Indoors & outdoors.

Duration: 1hr 30min (with an optional short break)
KS4 Curriculum links: History, Science, Information & Communications Technology, English, Art & Design, Design & Technology. Suitable for ages 14–18.
Workshops
Mini Mechanics
Become a mechanic and learn different car parts before building your own small model racing car with pre-prepared craft materials. Primarily indoors.
Cost: £1.50 per pupil (in addition to General Admission price, see top of page). 15 children per session.
Duration: 30mins
KS1 Curriculum links: Science, Engineering and Design & Technology. Suitable for ages 4–8.
Loopy Gliders
Build and test your own paper glider and learn about the main principles of flight in this fun cross-curricular workshop. Indoors & outdoors.
Cost: £1.50 per pupil (in addition to General Admission price, see top of page). 20 children per session.

Peg Racers
Build and test your own peg cars on our model ‘Test Hill’ and learn about key forces in motorsport during this fun cross-curricular workshop. Primarily indoors.

Downhill Racers
Learn about aerodynamics and build a car from re-usable materials in teams before racing it down Test Hill. Primarily outdoors; involves teamwork and interaction between small groups of students.
