Raleigh Sports X Tourist Model 39
1935, Racing Lock-ups, On long term display
Today, this would be called a heavy roadster but in the 1930s it was considered a sports or tourist cycle. The hub brakes are operated by cables, which work better in the rain. A full chaincase and ‘Lycett’ leatherette-covered sprung saddle helped in the wet and reduced the maintenance. This model has a Sturmey-Archer ‘K’ 3-speed wide ratio geared hub with a top tube control lever. The black paint finish is original.
