Higgins Bicycle
This bicycle was purchased from the manufacturer’s stand at the 1935 Earls Court Cycle Show by a Mr Potter. He was a member of the local Ripley Road Cycle Club and raced this bike at Brooklands several times, as well as on club runs.
The bike was supplied with lightweight alloy rims, but they have been exchanged for wooden fittings instead. Many racers at the time preferred the lighter weight and natural ‘feel’ of wooden rims, but they require more maintenance and must be kept dry.
