By 1939 the bicycle was recognised as an inseparable part of the lives of millions the world over as a health, leisure and sports pursuit. Severe shortages during the 1939-45 war increased this dependence on the bicycle. This ‘all weather’ model with its all black paint finish, full chaincase, single speed hub and luggage rack would have made this the ideal cycle for the Air Raid Warden.
