As with the gentleman’s Modele Superbe, this was the most expensive bicycle in the Raleigh range. It has the original green paint and elaborate gold lining, aluminium wheel rims and a Sturmey-Archer (Tricoaster) 3-speed geared hub controlled by a barrel handlebar lever. A wicker basket, Lucas No. 42 handlebar coat carrier and a Lucas No. 6 bell are all fitted to the handlebars. It has a full chaincase and dress guard to keep a lady’s skirt away from the spokes and out of the chain, and a lightweight folding stand fitted to the nearside chainstay. The front tyre is a ‘Birmos Speed’.
A highly prized possession, this was not for keeping in the garden shed.
