Hawker Snowblower

Consisting of an early Rolls-Royce Avon jet engine - probably from a Hawker Hunter Mk I fighter - mounted on a 1940s Austin K2 lorry chassis and with specially-built cab and front nozzle, this unique machine was designed for snow clearance work at Dunsfold Aerodrome, Surrey, in the 1960s. Donated by British Aerospace Defence Ltd, it was delivered to the Museum by National Rescue on 5th June 1997.
