BSA Path Racer

This machine is typical of the racing bicycles that took part in the very first cycle race held at Brooklands in 1907 - the 100 miles massed start race.

The ‘Path Racer’ was made at the time when BSA (Birmingham Small Arms) did not sell complete bicycles to the public. It was designed for track racing but, by adding heavier wheels and tyres and a brake and bell, it could be used as a fast road machine.
