Collection & Research Enquiry
Our Collection
The Brooklands Museum collection contains a large amount of material, from records of the cars that raced on the circuit to technical drawings of the aircraft that were built here. This is all framed by the largest surviving section of the racetrack and supporting buildings, all of which are a testament of what was achieved here. Through our collections we can provide a range of information from basic race synopsis, personality biographies to more in-depth research.
Library
The library holds our index of Brooklands races and their riders and drivers alongside books, periodicals, and research files.
Technical Archive
Our technical archive contains a wealth of information on the aircraft built at Brooklands and nearby Vickers, BAC, Sopwith, Hawker and BAe.
Research Enquiries
September 2025
We regret to inform you that due to staffing capacity and resources, we are currently unable to offer individual research support or process archive image licensing requests at this time.
This decision has not been taken lightly. As a museum we are committed to the care and preservation of our collections, and this must take precedence.
Due to the high volume of enquiries which exceeds the staff hours currently available we do not wish to continue offering this service without the sufficient resources as it risks the quality and accuracy of the information we can provide. While we understand this might be disappointing, we hope you will appreciate that this step allows us to focus on the care, conservation, and preservation of our collections for future generations.
We thank you for your understanding and ongoing support.
Please note, that Brooklands Museum Trust does not hold the official records of Vickers, BAC and British Aerospace.
Our archives only contain random material that has by chance been donated over the years. When the factories closed down records were removed by BAe Systems, who you can contact via their website and beyond that the official factory archives are held at Cambridge University Library, this collection can be searched online here.
If you are interested in Brooklands Race records, there is a selection of race programmes digitised by the British Motorcycle Racing Club and accessible online here.
