What are the Driving Experiences at Brooklands Museum?

In partnership with Webbs of Weybridge, Brooklands Museum offers a rare opportunity to get behind the wheel of some of the most iconic classic cars ever built, all in a setting steeped in British motoring history. 

These experiences combine historic machinery with the atmosphere of the world’s first purpose-built motor racing circuit. Guests can drive on the original track, tackle the iconic Test Hill, or take to the Surrey countryside for a more relaxed journey. 

There are three driving experiences available, each offering a different way to enjoy the cars, the track, and the surrounding landscape.

What is the ‘Brooklands Classic’ Driving Experience?

The Brooklands Classic Driving Experience is a focused, high-adrenaline day on the historic race track. It is designed for those who want to spend time behind the wheel of multiple classic cars and experience the unique character of the original Brooklands circuit. The day also includes the opportunity to tackle Test Hill and explore the wider museum site.

What is included:

  • Welcome breakfast in the Bluebird Room with tea, coffee, and bacon rolls

  • Approximately 30 minutes of driving on the historic Brooklands track

  • Driving experience in a selection of classic cars, including models such as the Jaguar E-type and Porsche 911T 

  • Opportunity to ascend Test Hill, the original 1909 historic vehicle testing climb

  • Final driving assessment to achieve a Brooklands Driving Licence

  • Full access to Brooklands Museum, including exhibitions and historic vehicles

How much does the Brooklands Classic cost?

The Brooklands Classic costs £450 per driver for a single place, or £525 for a driver and passenger package.

What is the ‘Surrey Classic’ Driving Experience?

The Surrey Classic Driving Experience offers a full day combining track driving, fine dining, and a scenic convoy through the Surrey countryside. It is designed to balance performance driving with a more relaxed touring experience, while still including time on the historic Brooklands circuit.

What is included: 

  • Welcome breakfast in the Bluebird Room with tea, coffee, and bacon rolls

  • Track driving session on the historic Brooklands circuit

  • Ascent of Test Hill in a selection of classic cars

  • Three-course meal served overlooking the Finishing Straight of the original race track

  • Convoy drive through the Surrey countryside in classic cars

  • Opportunity to experience multiple iconic vehicles, such as the Jaguar E-type, MG A, and Ford Mustang V8 

  • Final assessment for a Brooklands Driving Licence

How much does the Surrey Classic cost?

The Surrey Classic costs £1025 per driver for a single place, or £1075 for a driver and passenger package.

What is the ‘Drive and Dine’ Driving Experience?

The Drive and Dine Experience focuses on an evening of relaxed classic car driving followed by a candlelit dining experience. It combines scenic countryside routes with the atmosphere of driving classic cars at sunset.

What is included:

  • Welcome pastries, tea, and coffee in the Bluebird Room

  • Evening convoy drive through the Surrey countryside in classic cars

  • Opportunity to drive a selection of iconic vehicles, such as the Jaguar E-type and Ford Mustang V8

  • Return to the museum for a candlelit three-course dinner

  • Experience of driving within a curated convoy setting

How much does the Drive and Dine experience cost? 

The Drive and Dine experience costs £475 per driver for a single place, or £495 for a driver and passenger package.

Driving Experiences: Frequently Asked Questions

What cars will I be driving during the experience?

Cars are allocated on the day, and it is not possible to guarantee a specific vehicle in advance. Each experience includes a selection from a carefully curated fleet of classic and prestige cars.

  • Prestige vehicles may include the Jaguar E-type, Mercedes 190SL, Porsche 911T, and Ford Mustang. 

  • Classic vehicles may include the 356 Speedster, MG A, Austin Healey, MG B, and Morris Minor. 

Can I choose which car I drive?

Car allocation is arranged on the day of your experience. While preferences may be noted, specific vehicles cannot be guaranteed, and allocation depends on availability and operational requirements.

What driving licence do I need?

All drivers must hold a current, full, and valid driving licence. UK and EU licence holders must have held their licence for at least two years. Drivers must also meet all insurance requirements in relation to age, driving history, and endorsements.

Can international visitors take part?

Drivers with a non-UK or non-EU licence may drive in the UK for up to one year from the start of residency, subject to DVLA rules. An International Driving Permit (IDP) is required for non-EU or EEA licence holders. A valid passport must also be presented, and copies will be securely stored for insurance and legal purposes for up to three years.

Are there age restrictions?

Yes, drivers must be between 25 and 79 years of age in order to participate.

What driving history is required?

Participants must have no licence suspension within the last three years, no more than one fault incident in the same period, no more than two convictions with a maximum of three points per conviction, and no BA, DD, or UT convictions.

What happens if I do not meet the driving criteria?

If the required licence, age, or driving history criteria are not met, participation in the driving experience will not be permitted for insurance reasons.

Do I need to sign anything before driving Test Hill?

For the Brooklands Classic experience, a waiver must be signed before driving Test Hill. If you choose not to sign the waiver, you will not be permitted to take part in that specific part of the experience, although the rest of the day may still proceed.

Is the experience suitable for nervous drivers?

Yes, the experiences are designed to be enjoyable and guided, with instruction provided throughout. However, participants must still meet all licensing and eligibility requirements.
