The Summer holidays are fast approaching. For many parents, that means the familiar challenge of finding ways to keep the kids entertained without spending every day glued to their screens. Coming up with family things to do that are fun, affordable, and genuinely engaging for children of different ages can feel overwhelming.

With interactive exhibits, outdoor play areas, educational shows, and even appearances from favourite TV characters, there is something for everyone this summer at Brooklands Museum. It’s the perfect day out in Surrey for a fun, educational and adventure-packed time with the kids.

Outdoor Adventures and Playtime

Brooklands Museum offers an unforgettable experience for families, with a mix of exciting indoor and outdoor attractions designed to keep children curious, active and entertained.

Children can climb aboard vintage buses, sit inside real racing cars, explore iconic aircraft, and let off steam in the dedicated playground and open green areas. There are also interactive problem-solving trails that take young explorers on an imaginative journey around the museum.

Family Activity Trails

Free activity trails are available at Admissions or from Reception in the Clubhouse. These self-guided adventures lead to fascinating and unexpected parts of the museum, encouraging children to learn and explore as they go.

The Sunbeam Cafe

Serves breakfast, lunch, and snacks, with mini hot meals and ‘Pick and Mix’ lunch packs for children. Families are also welcome to bring picnics, with plenty of tables and green areas throughout the Paddock, playground, and aircraft park.

Entry

Children’s tickets start from £10, and under 4s always go free.

Working Vehicles Day with Bluey & Bingo

Saturday 19th July 2025

Working Vehicles Day is one of the highlights of the summer calendar, especially for young fans of diggers and trucks. Families can meet Bluey and Bingo at intervals throughout the day, ride on mini Rovers and Diggerland diggers, and explore an impressive collection of giant vehicles.

Vintage bus rides (weather permitting) add to the nostalgic fun, making this a brilliant day out for children who love anything with wheels.

Build Your Own LEGO Racecar

Children can get creative at the LEGO® building station, where they’ll have the chance to design and build their very own racecar. This activity is located alongside Brooklands’ McLaren Supercar exhibition, which showcases the remarkable McLaren Senna GTR.

It’s a great opportunity for children to be inspired by real-world engineering and then put their imagination into action.

Race on the F1 Simulator

For aspiring young racers, the McLaren MP4-21 F1 Show Car Simulator offers a thrilling experience. This is the car that marked Sir Lewis Hamilton’s debut in Formula 1, and now children can step into the simulator and feel what it’s like to take on a Grand Prix track.

This exciting activity is perfect for children (and adults) who want to experience the speed and skill of top-level racing in a safe and immersive environment.

The Summer Science Show

25th July – 30th August 2025

Science meets theatre in this fun and energetic family musical comedy, Forces at Play. Set in the stunning Stratosphere Chamber, the show brings Brooklands’ pioneering history to life through music, storytelling, and hands-on demonstrations.

The 30-minute performances take place four times a day and are included with museum entry. Alongside the show, families can enjoy a STEM activity trail and extra science-themed activities across the museum throughout the summer.

Get Creative at the Aircraft Factory

Step into the award-winning Brooklands Aircraft Factory and experience what it was like to build aircraft during the golden age of aviation. Children can clock in, don overalls, and start their very own engineering apprenticeship.

From early wood-and-fabric planes to Concorde and beyond, this immersive space is full of interactive exhibits. One of the highlights is the chance for children to build their own metal plane to take home - a perfect souvenir from a day of discovery.

American Day

Sunday 31st August 2025

Celebrate the end of the summer holidays in style at American Day. This annual event is packed with stars, stripes and stunning classic cars from across the Atlantic, including Mustangs, Chevrolets, Dodges and more.

With themed entertainment, food, and hundreds of gleaming vehicles on display, American Day offers a vibrant and memorable finale to the summer break.
