SUSPENDED:Air to Air Refuelling

  • Sorry this event has been cancelled

Please Note: Due to the Coronavirus outbreak this event is suspended and we are not taking any pre-bookings for it until further notice. We hope that we will be able to go ahead with the event on this date pending any further Coronavirus developments.

The Museum's First to Fastest exhibition features the Harrier that won the 1969 Transatlantic Air Race. That feat could not have been achieved without the aircraft refueling mid-air. The refuelling nozzle is still fitted to the aircraft today. A small fleet of Handley-Page Victors provided the refuelling tanks.

Tonight we welcome the pilot of that Harrier, Tom Lecky-Thompson and the pilot of the first refuelling Victor, Alex Pickering, to Brooklands. They will be talking about air to air refuelling in general and specifically about the famous air race itself.
