Stirling Moss Tribute Event
03 November 2020
An exciting date for your 2021 diaries, Sunday 23rd May.
Brooklands will be celebrating the life of Sir Stirling Moss OBE, the original President of the Brooklands Trust Members, who sadly passed away this year aged 90. What better way to remember the great man than to bring together a number of his classic racing cars?
The Talks Team are currently working hard to source a number of these gems and are looking to contact as many people as they possibly can, that knew or worked with Sir Stirling, so that they can join us for our motorsport tribute.
The event programme is still evolving, but there is real momentum as the Team source an increasing number of Stirling's race winning cars.
At this early stage, we've confirmed Moss' 1952 F2 HWM, his 1958 Vanwall and a number of Rob Walker Racing Team Grand Prix cars, including the Ferguson P99 FWD, the Walker Climax, 1961 TT winning Ferrari 250 GT, and the iconic 1961 Monaco Grand Prix winning Lotus 18 Climax - chassis '912'. Moss' assessment was, that this race was probably his greatest drive in a Formula 1 race, and anyone who witnessed it on BBC TV couldn't but agree.
Negotiations are ongoing for more of Stirling's often race-winning cars, and we'd welcome contact from anyone with news of known Moss race cars - not all were winners but most were.
''Mr Motor Racing '' has indeed a unique career which we are very keen to celebrate in style.
Much more information will be available in coming months with cars, personalities and friends, all keen to be part of this very special event.
