Blind Bloke Racing
Last week we welcomed Nigel Limb aka "Blind Bloke Racing" to Brooklands.
Nigel, a selfconfessed petrolhead, tragically crashed in 2015 whilst taking part in a motorcycle beach race. He was pronounced “brain dead” before signalling to the world, after 11 days in a coma, he was not yet ready to give up.
Speaking at the Museum, he explained that whilst the aftermath of the accident and initial recovery had been a living nightmare for him and his wife, he has now thrown himself into a revitalised passion for 2- wheel action.
Nigel, now registered blind, sees only silhouettes and limited colour, but now holds the record for a visually impaired person over 1/8th Mile from a standing start on a Triumph motorcycle and in May this year broke the same record in 8.74 seconds on an electric T.T. bike at 83 mph.
He is currently working on an electric Speedway bike. Nigel is pictured in the McEvoy Shed.

Junk and Disorderly
Henry Cole Allen Millyard and Guy Willison were at the Brooklands Motorcycle Show at the beginning of the month to film ITV4’s Junk & Disorderly.
This was Episode Six of the present series which features the trio searching the sheds of Southern England for treasures to sell on their Jumble stall at various locations around the country.
This episode featured Allen and Guy bunking off selling duties to ride their bikes up Test Hill. Allen rode his unique 6-cylinder Kawasaki based on a Z1. Incidentally Allan rode the bike from the Midlands to Brooklands and back.
Junk and Disorderly is available on catch-up on the ITV Hub. Episode five, also available on catch-up, sees Allen riding up Prescot Hill Climb on his Flying Millyard Creation powered by 2 cylinders of a Pratt and Whitney aircraft engine with Henry Cole on the back!

BMtv Update
July was a busy month at the museum and BMtv was there to record most of it! Motorcycle Day is always a great event with many bikes spanning over 100 years and trade stands to explore. The Brooklands Summer Classic Gathering at the end of the month had one of the best assortment of classic cars this year and some more excellent trade stands. The Members Talk “The People’s Mosquito” was a fascinating presentation on the history of this classic marque and the planning construction of a “new” Mosquito. You can see videos here or listen to our podcast here
We will be recording the forthcoming talk on the 18th August between Charley Boorman and Steve Parrish. It will no doubt be a hoot! We currently have 223 videos in our YouTube library and these are being sorted into “Playlists” to help you find what you might be interested in viewing. We have another 150 videos to transfer! When you go onto the channel it will help us and you if you subscribe to it. You will then be notified of our future listings.
You can catch up on the latests recordings of “The Track”. This monthly programme delivered on Brooklands radio covers all things Brooklands related including aviation and motoring on site. Listen here
