Autumn Classic Breakfast 2017 Report
01 November 2017
In the Paddock, three Lotus sports cars, a superb red convertible Triumph Herald and a very tidy Vauxhall Chevette saloon represented the variety of 1970s gems on site while opposite them by the Scoreboard and lawned area were older examples from Austin and MG. Elsewhere, Minis, VW Campers and Beeltes could be spotted as well as some stunning Americana and the TR Register London Group who had reserved their pitch in the Motoring Village.
Three red cars added a splash of colour to the front of the Clubhouse in the form of an MG PB, a Jaguar XK 140 and an MGA. It was perhaps on the Campbell lawn though that the whole spectrum of classics was summed up by just two vehicles parked next to each other: a bright blue Reliant Robin placed in front of a green 1930 Bentley 4½ ltr Bobtail.
At 11.15am the Test Hill ascents got underway and among those brave enough to attempt it after a hearty full English breakfast in the Sunbeam Café was a 1954 Greeves motorcycle, Ford Mustangs and a Popular, an E-Type Jaguar and a showroom condition MkII Escort.
