On weekdays during Half Term, our popular car rides will be operating from 11am-1pm and from 2-3.30pm (subject to weather). Take a trip in a vintage-style car up Test Hill or along the Members’ Banking of the old Race Track, courtesy of the Brooklands Volunteer Car Rides Team. Bertie bear will be making guest appearances and there will be family activities all week.
Half Term Family Activities - Conservation Week
Have you ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes at the Museum? What does a Conservator do all day? How do Curators choose what exhibits to run and which to keep preserved? Find out the answers to these questions and more for the first ever ‘Brooklands Museum Conservation Week’! Across February half term we will be running talks and workshops for adults and children and giving you the opportunity to meet the people who conserve and restore the Brooklands collections. Activities will be taking place throughout the week so please see individual days for more details.
Conservation Workshop: Clean a painting
Learn the skills of a conservator in our special children’s workshop. As our young assistant conservators, you will be helping us to clean up dirty paintings, revealing the pictures hidden beneath the dirt.
Workshop runs from 17th to 21st February at 11am - 12pm and 1:30 - 2:30pm in the Shell Pagoda
Curator Talk: Conservation at Brooklands
Our curators will be giving special talks about the work they do, how we conserve our collection and external exhibits. The short talks will be held throughout the day, places are limited, the free tickets can be collected from Visitor Services on the day. No advanced booking.
Talks will be at 11am & 2pm in the activity room.
