Brooklands Museum offers a growing outreach programme to groups who would like us to visit their school. We have workshops run by our education team as well as loan boxes for teacher-led learning. The programme has been designed to complement classroom learning and can be used at any stage during your topic. A brief outline is provided below and early booking is recommended.
Help your pupils to discover the exciting world of engineering as we take your pupils for a journey through the forces affecting different modes of transport. Pupils will build, test and modify their own parachute in this creative workshop.
World War Two
Investigate the life of a local child during World War Two by examining historical artefacts in your classroom. Pupils will learn how life changed for people on the Home Front as we look at the effects of war on their daily life.
Arts Award Discover
These fun and exciting art activities enable your group to complete their Arts Award Discover logbook as we progress through the day.
Each session can host a maximum of 32 children and lasts between 1 and 2 hours depending on the schools time commitments and choices. Each session will cost £2.50 per child plus an additional charge at 0.35p per mile covered from the Museum to the school.
Our Key Stage 1 & 2 loan boxes contain real and replica objects for pupils to examine in the classroom as well as ideas for lessons and activities. Each box relates to a specific theme and encourages an interactive and stimulating classroom experience.
Topics: Toys, Transport, Journeys.
