If you can’t come to us we can come to you! Brooklands Museum now offers a World War II Outreach programme for Key Stage 2 Students.
The session looks at how children’s daily life was affected by the war. Pupils will experience an air raid and what it would be like to stay in a shelter; they will handle artefacts from the war period, make their own gas mask and take part in a rationing activity, which whilst being great fun, also helps to improve the students’ maths skills. During the session the students will be given information on each section covered whilst making the experience fun and memorable. There is also the option, time permitting, for the students to experience what a lesson during the Second World War would have been like, giving them the opportunity to role play with their gas masks.
Each session can host a maximum of 32 children and lasts between 1 and 2 hours depending on the schools time commitments and choices. Each session will cost £2.50 per child plus an additional charge at 0.35p per mile covered from the Museum to the school.
